Nancy Shumard
1937-2018
Nancy Helen (Borden) Shumard, of Rockstream, New York, born on April 15, 1937 on The Brown Farm in Obid, New York to the parents of Arthur Leroy and Matilda Katherine Borden, passed away at age 81 on August 18, 2018 in Newhall, California. She graduated from Deming High School in New Mexico. She was a dedicated Mom whose main job in life was to pray for her family! She worked outside of the home as a Bus Driver at Sulpher Springs and Saugus Union School Districts. She drove Special Needs children for most of her career and she loved the kids!
Nancy was preceded in death by her brothers, Jim Borden and George Borden; sister, Arlene Ganung; and grandchild, Tyler Shumard. She is survived by her sons, Craig Shumard (spouse Paula) , Matt Shumard (spouse Bernadette) , and Luke Shumard (spouse Nancy); daughters, Brenda Shumard (spouse Annie) and Connie Lindeman (spouse Jeff) ; brothers, Gale Borden and Bruce Borden; sister, Virginia Lines; and grandchildren, Nichole Harris, Brooke Kruzner, Luke Lindeman, Hannah Moore, Sarah Shumard, Dylan Shumard, Hailey Shumard, Riley Shumard, and Tyson Shumard; great grandchildren, Decker Kruzner and Tenley Kruzner.
Nancy was born on a farm and was a true farm girl through and through! She loved all farm animals, especially cows! Nancy enjoyed painting, crafting, gardening, and baking. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church since 1971. She was a volunteer with the Care Circle of Grace Baptist Church who spread love and cheer by visiting elderly shut-ins. She was well known for baking and sharing her corn bread with those she YLVLWHG ,Q OLHX RI ÀRZHUV WKRVH ZKR wish may donate in Nancy’s name to Young Life of Santa Clarita Valley. Friends and family can pay their respects at her Celebration of Life VHUYLFH RI¿FLDWHG E\ 3DVWRU *HRII Beckwith, on Tuesday, August 28 at 4:00 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church, 22833 Copper Hill Dr, Santa Clarita, California, 91350. The funeral home will be Eternal Valley Memorial Park, 23287 North Sierra Hwy, Newhall, 661-259-0800.
