Tickets on sale for State of the City
Tickets are now on sale for the city of Santa Clarita’s State of the City Luncheon, scheduled Thursday, Oct. 25, at the Hyatt Regency Valencia.
This year’s theme, “City of the Arts,” will offer the attendees an opportunity to learn about current and future city happenings, with a major focus on the role of arts in Santa Clarita.
Why a focus on the arts? “Santa Clarita has morphed into really beautiful, interesting and
ahigh-quality-of-life community,” said Mayor Laurene Weste. “It’s time for the city to embrace the arts. We are catching up on infrastructure, but instead of going over the hill, let us acknowledge our creativity and become an arts destination we are proud of.”
The community will hear updates from the City Council, including highlights with the latest on city projects, and a chance to see live performances from local artists.
“I look forward to the State of the City every year, but this year is extra special,” Weste said in city news release. “I am a passionate supporter of arts in our community and look forward to sharing more about future public art pieces, new programs, updates on arts funding and a special commemorative gift that will bring out the artist in you.”
The 2017 State of the City highlighted 30 years of cityhood, with an ’80s theme reminiscent of a “Footloose” music video.
Tickets are $40 per person and $400 for a table of 10 guests. Each ticket price includes the luncheon and a commemorative gift.
