Signal changes delivery service
In an effort to address circulation concerns, The Signal has changed its delivery service, Signal Publisher Richard Budman announced Friday.
While the change has resulted in a slight uptick in delivery issues over the past week, the newspaper hired a local company to address the issues moving forward, which will vastly improve service in the long term, Budman said.
“We sincerely apologize for any short-term inconvenience created by the transition,” Budman said, “but this new company positions The Signal to deliver the quality of service our customers expect and deserve.”
The move is part of several changes Budman has brought to the paper since his purchase of Paladin Multimedia, The Signal’s parent company.
The Budman family announced their purchased of The Signal, which has served the greater Santa Clarita Valley for more than 99 years, in June.
The Signal has doubled the size of its editorial staff since the summer, adding three reporters, as well as a new editor, advertising director, production manager, graphic artists and adding resources to its circulation department.
Outside of staffing, the most significant addition has been the circulation of the Sunday Signal, a weekly print publication that’s delivered to approximately 70,000 homes in the Santa Clarita Valley.
The new business relationship with King Distribution has added more than 18 jobs to the local economy, Budman said.
