This week, we asked Rachel Cosgrove, owner of Results Fitness in Newhall, about her company’s goals, and what helped make her successful at working toward the one-year, five-year and 10year goals she established for her business.

Year 1

After the fun of the “Wow, we’re open!” honeymoon period, you enter the “grind” when, as the owner, you are usually doing most of the tasks from the most important to the least important until you are making enough income to start building your team.

Year one, the No. 1 goal is to put systems in place and hire a key team member to start running those systems.

Developing the systems that your business is dependent on so you are no longer winging it is key that first year.

We hired a full-time office manager as soon as we could, and she is still on our team to this day almost 19 years later.

Year 5

By year 5, we had built our team, had systems in place and our focus really turned to, “How can we make sure we are creating the best customer service experience possible?”

We really worked on our culture, our core values nd creating an atmosphere that was unlike any other gym.

By year 5, you want to have your core values in place and make your culture a priority.

Year 10

By year 10, we were focused on continuing to grow.

We have an incredible team who we need to keep creating new opportunities for and find ways to reach our mission to change the way fitness is done.

By year 10, we had expanded our gym our times, added a juice bar in year nine, and had started our second company Results Fitness University where we help other fitness professionals around the world.

By year 10, you want to think about what’s next nd look for new opportunities to grow.
