Ahead of the election Nov. 6, partisan organizations in the Santa Clarita Valley have endorsed constituents in the upcoming races.

In August, the 38th Assembly District Republican Central Committee and the Democratic Alliance for Action of Santa Clarita held respective meetings to endorse candidates running for Congress, the Assembly, the Santa Clarita City Council, local school boards and College of the Canyons trustee races.

The Republican candidates endorsed were: City Council incumbents Bill Miranda, Laurene Weste and Marsha McLean; Saugus Union School District incumbent Judy Umeck and candidates Jesus Henao and Sharlene Duzick; William S. Hart Union High School District incumbents Bob Jensen and Joe Messina; Newhall School District candidate Donna Rose; and College of the Canyons Board of Trustees 5th District incumbent Joan MacGregor.

“We can only endorse in local races, so we don’t endorse for any statewide or congressional races,” said Committee Chairman Joe Messina.

“I think it’s going to be a good day for red,” he said about the upcoming election.

The Democrat candidates endorsed were: 25th Congressional District candidate Katie Hill; 38th Assembly District candidate Christy Smith; City Council candidates Logan Smith, Diane Trautman and Brett Haddock; Saugus Union School District incumbent Chris Trunkey, Laura Arrowsmith and David Barlavi and William S. Hart Union High School District candidates Kelly Trunkey and Donna Robert.

“We worked really hard these past two years and we’ve seen a remarkable increase in Dem voter registration throughout the district,” said DAA President Michelle Kampbell. “And it shows when we go out there and do voter registration outreach, that many voters are eager for a change in leadership in Congress and the Assembly, and our City Council as well.”

Constituents interested in the Republican party platform can get involved at the committee’s headquarters on 20655 Soledad Canyon Road and call the office at 818-261-3279.

Interested Democratic constituents can sign up for canvassing or get involved by visiting Smith’s headquarters at 23120 Lyons Ave., Unit 12, or Hill’s headquarters at 25269 The Old Road.
