Girl Scout to host second ‘Seniors Got Talent’ show at Senior Center

After a packed show last year, the SCV Senior Center is expecting another rousing array of performances for its upcoming “Seniors Got Talent” talent show Thursday.

The program started last year after it was started by a regular visitor to the Senior Center, Rudy Pavini, according to Robin Clough, volunteer and recreation coordinator.

“Being the first one, we weren’t sure what to expect,” Clough said. “It warranted a big draw.”

The second “Seniors Got Talent” will feature a few small changes, including its host.

“What is unique about this year’s show is that it will be put on by Grace Waterman, who is a Girl Scout,” Clough said. “She’s doing this to earn her Gold Award, one of the top awards for a Girl Scout.”

Waterman previously co-hosted a “senior prom” for the Senior Center in April.

The show is open to the public and free to attend. Clough said there will be 18 different acts, primarily music and dance performances.

“It’s a great way to showcase them and highlight them,” she said. “It’s such great experience to go through the rehearsals and the process.”

Returning acts include singers Ramona Javelona and Christopher Robbin, along with a drum circle led by Donelle Williams. Toward the show’s climax, Clough said she and other performers will join together for a collaborative musical presentation called “Gramma Mia,” inspired after seeing the recent film “Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again.”

With the prospect of getting the new Senior Center open early next year, Clough said it will be a great venue for more talent shows through the years to come.
