Residents and tourists now have another option of traveling along Santa Clarita’s paved trails thanks to the city’s partnership with bike share company Zagster, officials announced Thursday.

By launching a pilot program, the company’s bike share brand, Pace, offers 50 bikes and 12 bike stations located throughout the city. Users need only download the Pace app on their mobile device to start riding. The locations are:

▪ Camp Plenty Trailhead

▪ Iron Horse Trailhead

▪ Old Town Newhall Library

▪ Promenade Trailhead

▪ Valencia Heritage Park

▪ Jan Heidt Newhall Metrolink

Station

▪ McBean Regional Transit Center

▪ Santa Clarita Metrolink Station

▪ Hyatt Regency Valencia

▪ Holiday Inn Express

▪ Citrus Street/Valencia Boulevard Bus Stop

▪ South Fork Trailhead Riders can rent a “lock-to” bike for $1 per 30 minutes by creating and activating an account using a credit card or PayPal. Discounts are available for students, and Santa Clarita residents can use the code “RIDESC” to get a $2 credit for their first ride.

Pace features both bike racks and on-board locks to ensure bikes are returned to stations properly, which helps avoid clutter on streets, which has proven to be an issue with other micro-mobility programs, according to Stacy Sebeczek, market manager at Zagster.

While there are only 50 bikes available, the pilot program is expected to expand with more stations and bikes being added through sponsorship opportunities over time, the city said in a news release. Local companies interested in sponsoring the Pace program in Santa Clarita can contact Sebeczek at 970-3055664 or by email at ssebeczek@zagster.com.
