Elizabeth Jane Schussel Cloeter

Elizabeth was born January 24, 1925 in North Branch, Minnesota. Her family moved to a farm in Spring Lake shortly thereafter. She attended a 2-room school house until 1937 when she contracted polio, and spent 7.5 months in the hospital. The family moved to Van Nuys in September, 1939, to have warmer weather for Elizabeth’s health. Her family became members of First Lutheran Church. She remained a member there for over 60 years, ZKHUH VKH ZDV FRQ¿UPHG DQG PDUULHG She attended Van Nuys High School, graduating in 1944. Elizabeth worked at Birmingham Army and Veterans Hospital during World War II. She married Robert Schussel in 1948. They had four children: Linda, Larry, Richard and Robert. She retired in 1987 as Personnel Manager for Fedco, Inc. Her husband, Robert, passed away in 1991. Elizabeth remarried in 1997 to Waldo Cloeter, and moved to Santa Clarita. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fredolf and Ruth Benson; her husband, Robert Schussel; and four brothers, Frank, James, Neil and David Benson.

Elizabeth is survived by her husband, Waldo Cloeter, daughter Linda Axenroth, and sons, Larry Schussel, Richard Schussel and Robert Schussel. She had 19 grandchild­ren and 31 great grand¬children and 1 great great grandchild.

Elizabeth’s greatest joy was her big family. The gifts she gave us were her positive nature, her love of God, and her generous and loving spirit for family.
