Valencia California Family History Center Class

What: The Valencia California Family History Center holds courses to help the community discover, preserve and share family histories. When you’re new to family history, the prospect of diving into the research process can seem overwhelmi­ng, especially when it comes to navigating the countless number of online databases and other websites related to roots research. Even if you have been researchin­g for many years, there is always something new to learn! This session will walk beginners through the exciting journey of genealogy, and provide experience­d researcher­s with tips to review what they have found and solve brick wall problems.

What: The Brittany Foundation Sanctuary & Dog Rescue shows our adoptable dogs at the PetSmart National Adoption Weekend events held four times a year in Stevenson Ranch. Salsa Rueda de Casino Workshop with Lionel Araya

What: Salsa Rueda de Casino is a fun and exciting style of salsa that originated in Cuba. It is most easily described as square dancing in a circle with salsa moves. If you enjoy traditiona­l L.A. style of Salsa dancing, you are sure to become a fan of Casino. This is a class geared toward beginners, so no worries if you have no previous dancing experience. Lionel’s teaching method is simple, easy to follow and low stress. His motto is “Dance Laugh Sleep Let’s Eat” and, with the exception of shut-eye, you’ll get it all in this class. ‘Embracing Growth’ Art Exhibit by Skye Amber Sweet

What: Explore the organic and soulful paintings created by Skye Amber Sweet at her new exhibit, “Embracing Growth,” showcasing works that highlight the wonder of life. The free exhibit is on display in the Community Room at the Old Town Newhall Library. Art enthusiast­s of all levels also are invited to participat­e in the artist reception on Wednesday, Feb. 6, from 6-8 p.m. The exhibit will be celebrated with light appetizers, live music and a chance for the public to meet the talented artist behind the pieces featured in the exhibit. Amber’s passion to make a difference in public spaces shows through her commitment to fundraisin­g for the projects she takes on, and through the emotional paintings he creates.
