Children’s Bureau to host adoption informational meeting
The county is asking those who might have the willingness, ability and resources to help a child in need to attend an upcoming informational meeting hosted by the Children’s Bureau.
There are approximately 64,000 children in foster care in California, and Los Angeles County’s foster care population exceeds 21,000 children with 500 foster children waiting to be connected to a family that will adopt, according to a news release from Children’s Bureau officials.
As a result, anybody who may be interested in learning about the Children’s Bureau’s comprehensive foster care or adoption programs is invited to a meeting on Saturday, Feb. 9, from 10 a.m. to noon at 27200 Tourney Road, Suite 175 in Valencia.
The agency is in need of resource families who would be willing to adopt or provide children with temporary care while they wait to reunify with their birth families, officials said.
“Resource Parents protect and nurture children, meet children’s developmental needs, support children’s relationships with their birth families and do all of this as a member of a professional team,” according to the news release. “Children’s Bureau welcomes every resource parent regardless of, race, age, religion, disability, marital status, ethnic background, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression,” and qualifying families receive training, family assessment, approval and support.
