Fall Festival returns to Grace Baptist
Entertaining event for everyone in the family
As his 6-year-old son pulled him toward the bounce house, Warren Davis did the same to his wife, creating a train of pumpkins making their way across Grace Baptist Church’s campus.
The Davis family, all dressed as pumpkins, were celebrating Halloween by attending the church’s annual Fall Festival on Wednesday.
“It’s kind of funny because I came here as a kid, and now I’m bringing Emery and he looks forward to it every year like I did,” Davis said.
Emery had already made it through the church’s “Candy Crop,” also known as trunk or treat, and collected more than enough candy to last him the entire year, he said.
“This is my favorite because I get to have fun and take lots of candy home,” Emery added. “And I get to go trick or treating tomorrow and get even more candy.”
The church starts planning the festival nearly half a year beforehand, and though organizers were presented with various challenges, such as the Tick Fire and high winds, they were still able to make the event a success with more than a thousand attendees.
“There’s so many things going on in Santa Clarita today, but people still came,” said Christian Delgado, children’s ministry coordinator for the church. “Candy crop is traditionally in the parking lot, but because it was so cold, we moved it all inside.”
In addition to the Candy Crop, kids could play in the bounce houses or in the Box City, a city created entirely of old appliance boxes.
“This is my first year coming,” added Cami McDaniels as she watched her kids play. “Some other moms had been telling me about it, and I’m glad I came. This ‘Box City’ is so unique. I know it would’ve been my dream as a kid.”
