Detectives seek public’s help in locating suspect
Report indicates victim shot during robbery in front of her home
Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials have identified the suspect believed to have been involved in an armed robbery, where a woman was shot in front of her Stevenson Ranch home Saturday evening.
Detectives are seeking the public’s help in identifying the whereabouts of attempted murder suspect Jeremy Hernandez, according to a Nixle released Sunday evening.
“When our detectives started to investigate the crime the night of the incident and a crime broadcast was made, a Lancaster detective heard the broadcast and assisted us in identifying the suspect,” Lt. Iggy Somoano, who heads the SCV Sheriff’s
Station’s Detective Bureau, stated in an email. “The suspect is from the Antelope Valley area, and Lancaster detectives are assisting us.”
Hernandez is described as a 19-year-old Hispanic man, 5 feet, 11 inches tall, 250 pounds, with black hair, brown eyes and a tattoo on his face. He is considered to be “armed and dangerous,” per the release, and anyone who spots him is asked to call 9-1-1.
Detectives want to question Hernandez in connection with the shooting that took place around 5:15 p.m. Saturday, according to officials.
Los Angeles County Fire Department officials responded to reports of a woman who had reportedly been shot at a home on the 24700 block of Bracken Lane, according to spokeswoman Cheryl Sims.
Around 5:30 p.m., SCV Sheriff’s Station deputies received a call from the patient’s husband, who was at another location, Deputy Erik Jepson said.
“The victim was approached in her driveway in Stevenson Ranch and robbed at gunpoint by Hernandez,” the bulletin read.
During the robbery, Hernandez fired a shot, striking the victim, before fleeing on foot.
Paramedics transported one gunshot victim from the home.
Deputies set up a containment in the area with the help of a helicopter from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Aero Bureau and detained one person initially, but nobody had been taken into custody with respect to the shooting investigation as of Sunday afternoon, according to Sgt. Keith Green.
