Los Angeles County Fire Department firefighters extinguished a 2.5-acre blaze in Saugus on Tuesday.

The fire, dubbed the Jump Fire, was first reported to the Fire Department at 10:29 a.m., off San Francisquito Canyon Road, between Lowridge Place and Copper Hill Drive.

Firefighters were arriving on the scene as of 10:38 a.m. The fire was reported in light to medium brush.

The fire was moving uphill and away from structures, according to Chris Thomas, spokesman for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Sheriff’s officials tweeted out an evacuation order for residents in the area of Sugar Pine Way and White Pine Place in Saugus for the #JumpFire, as of 11 a.m.

Personnel from the Angeles National Forest Service, Los Angeles County Fire Department and Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene.

First responders worked quickly to punch out a fire line around the blaze, which had blackened a nearby hilltop.

“At 11:08 a.m., forward progress stopped and the Jump Fire was held to 2.5 acres,” said Leslie Lua, a spokeswoman for the Fire Department.

Mop-up on the fire, in which firefighters walk the area to ensure there are no further flare-ups within the burn area, was concluded at 12:17 p.m. The incident was formally closed at 1:31 p.m.

At 1:11 p.m., officials reopened the formerly closed San Francisquito Canyon Road for through traffic.

No injuries were reported nor structures damaged as a result of the blaze.
