Candidates for College of the Canyons, Area 4

-

Jerry Danielsen

Jerry Danielsen is honored to be the teachers’ choice candidate for trustee and to continue his commitment of service to our community — with a students-first agenda. Jerry is a COC alumnus, a small-business owner and an educator.

His campaign for the board is inspired by his passion for what we want, what we need, and what we deserve at the college.

We want the college to inspire achievement, improve transfer rates, be adaptable to our quickly changing times, and provide additional and better job training.

We need careful, transparent oversight and management of taxpayer money, which is, after all, your money!

We deserve an inclusive and equitable college that serves everyone, prioritizing teaching and learning, directing resources to those with the greatest need.

Let’s continue the improvement and expansion of the Canyon Country campus, and work for the highest-quality education during and after COVID-19.

Michele Jenkins

I am proud to serve College of the Canyons, one of our community’s greatest assets. My ultimate goal is to make sure COC continues to provide an affordable education for all, low-cost training for businesses, and results that exceed expectations. As one of COC’s first graduates and a local business owner for 36 years, I care deeply about the college. I am proud of my record, which is reflected in students’ achievements and the college’s accomplishments. I listen, and I keep my promises, such as building the Canyon Country campus and science center, Academy of the Canyons, University Center, and Institute for Culinary Education, and establishing our Economic Development Division, which will provide training for wellpaying jobs in a COVID-19 economy. If reelected, I will continue to make decisions based on the needs of students and stakeholders, while maintaining responsible, transparent oversight and longterm financial stability.
