William S. Hart Union High School District candidates, Area 1
Linda Storli
Linda Storli was elected to the board in November 2015 to represent Trustee Area 1, covering Castaic, Val Verde, Tesoro del Valle and Valencia.
During her years on the board, Linda helped open Castaic High School on time and on budget. Linda has also seen the district open wellness centers on nearly every campus and plans to have them on every campus by the end of the year. She has pushed to introduce new history textbooks, ensuring students have the most accurate, up-to-date learning material.
Linda was a government and U.S. history teacher at Canyon High School for 30 years. Linda also helps families find their forever homes as part of a Realtor team with her daughter.
Linda was a commissioner on the city’s Parks and Recreation Commission, served as the chair of the city’s Fourth of July Parade Committee, and was a member of the city formation committee.
Alyssa Williams
With a background in education, a son currently in high school and a passion for inclusivity, equity and mental health, Alyssa Williams is ready to take on the difficult issues facing our district schools. Furthermore, with this valley being the wonderfully diverse place it is, Alyssa’s certification as an ESL teacher allows her to understand the challenges of learning a new language and ensuring these families do not feel excluded from the educational process. Alyssa has been vocal throughout her campaign about the fact that students, teachers and staff must be considered and consulted in the major decisions that will impact them. Our district will benefit with your vote for Alyssa.
Area 1 candidate Gordon Kirkpatrick did not respond to The Signal’s request for a statement.
