County reports nearly 2,000 COVID-19 deaths in 1 week

Los Angeles County Public Health officials released the following updated COVID-19 statistics Thursday:

Southern California region ICU available capacity: 0%

Countywide COVID-19 cases reported in the past 24 hours: 17,323

Total COVID-19 cases in L.A. County: 975,299

▪ New deaths related to COVID-19 reported in the past 24 hours: 287

Total COVID-19 deaths in L.A. County: 13,234

▪ Hospitaliz­ations countywide: 7,906, 21% of whom are in the ICU

▪ Hospitaliz­ations at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital as of Jan. 13: 98, with 840 discharged since the onset of the pandemic

▪ COVID-19 cases reported in the Santa Clarita Valley in the past 24 hours: 356

▪ Total COVID-19 cases in the SCV: 20,865

▪ Total COVID-19 deaths in the SCV as of Jan. 13: 154, including two additional deaths reported Tuesday and two more Wednesday by Henry Mayo.
