County reports continued dip in COVID-19 cases, deaths

L.A. County Public Health officials released the following updated COVID-19 statistics Thursday:

▪ Southern California region ICU available capacity: 0%

▪ Countywide COVID-19 cases reported in the past 24 hours: 8,512

▪ Total COVID-19 cases in L.A. County: 1,046,021

▪ New deaths related to COVID-19 reported in the past 24 hours: 262

▪ Total COVID-19 deaths in L.A. County: 14,641

▪ Hospitaliz­ations countywide: 7,263, 23% of whom are in the ICU

▪ Hospitaliz­ations at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital as of Jan. 21: 82, with 927 discharged since the onset of the pandemic

▪ COVID-19 cases reported in the Santa Clarita Valley in the past 24 hours: 131

▪ Total COVID-19 cases in the SCV: 22,295

▪ Total COVID-19 deaths in the SCV as of Jan. 21: 161, with one additional death reported Thursday by Henry Mayo.

The number of SCV cases, including all area health care providers’ daily figures and those at Pitchess Detention Center, broken down into region, are as follows:
