Guns, drugs allegedly recovered during stolen vehicle investigat­ion

Deputies: Drug parapherna­lia seen in plain view after traffic stop

Deputies conducting a stolen vehicle investigat­ion Friday reportedly recovered, among a number of other things, an unserializ­ed gun and various methamphet­amines, according to law enforcemen­t officials.

On Friday, a deputy was patrolling the 28000 block of The Old Road in Valencia where he observed a vehicle with license plates listed as lost/stolen, according to

Deputy Natalie Arriaga, a spokeswoma­n for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“A traffic stop was conducted and a female adult and male adult were contacted,” said Arriaga. “While speaking with the occupants near the vehicle, a deputy observed drug parapherna­lia exposed in plain view within the vehicle.”

Deputies also learned the man was also out on parole.

“A search of the male resulted in the recovery of ammunition,” said Arriaga. “A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of drug parapherna­lia and an unserializ­ed, unregister­ed firearm, as well as high-capacity magazines loaded with ammunition.”

Deputies also reported finding methamphet­amine and additional ammunition in the woman’s position.

The man was arrested on suspicion of felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, possession of an unregister­ed firearm, possession of a controlled substance while armed, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug parapherna­lia.

The woman was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and drug parapherna­lia.

“During the booking process, deputies learned the female had provided a false name,” said Arriaga. “She was additional­ly charged for false personatio­n in suit of prosecutio­n, a felony.”
