5th Annual Dragon Boat ‘Balloon/Egg’ Hunt and Barbecue

9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 16

At the Castaic Lake lower lagoon, Paradise Cove: Balloons will be floating on the lake, and to reach them the team needs to paddle together. Each balloon retrieved will contain a small treat. Paddles and personal flotation devices will be provided for all. Lifeguards will be on duty. Kid-friendly event. Dragon boat racing is growing in popularity in the U.S. and is a true team sport for all ages. It consists of a team of 20 paddlers who paddle in unison for the boat to move. Free event. “Resurrecti­on: An Oratorio” 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 16

Santa Clarita SDA Church, 24436 Valley Street, Newhall

Santa Clarita Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church will host the premier of a resurrecti­on oratorio written by Santa Clarita resident, Brett Cameron Perry. The story will focus on the encounters between Jesus’ closest friends and the divine messengers who try to convince them that Jesus truly is alive. When the incredible news of Christ’s resurrecti­on finally sank in, nothing could curb his friends’ excitement. The evening is scheduled to feature live soloists and dance to complete the musical score.

Cancer Awareness Days & Relay for Life

The Discovery Shop at 6570B Bouquet Canyon Rd., Santa Clarita; Relay for Life, the major fundraisin­g event for the American Cancer Society, will take place at Central Park

The American Cancer Society invites the community to come and support the important work it does. ACS volunteers encourage Santa Clarita Valley residents to help by making a purchase during its Cancer Awareness Days or by making donations. The Discovery Shop’s hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. Donations are accepted weekdays from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. For informatio­n, call the Discovery Shop at 661-296-8460.

SCV Dodger Day

For the first time since 2019, the city of Santa Clarita is organizing 43rd city of Santa Clarita Dodger Day to see the hometown Los Angeles Dodgers take on the Philadelph­ia Phillies. Tickets are grouped together to ensure Santa Clarita residents get to sit together. Residents will be able to select preferred seating when purchasing tickets.
