Exeter girls exit in first round of states

The Exeter girls lacrosse team dropped its first game of the PIAA Girls Lacrosse playoffs, 9-7, to Mount Lebanon of District 7 on June 1.

In the best season in program history, the Eagles were the District 3 runner-up and ended the season with a 17-7 record.

Jordan Kotas had one goal and two assists for Exeter. Lex Einsig and Maryn Hubiak both tallied two goals a piece for the Eagles, while Mackenzie Anton and Ariana Kline both added one. Exeter goalie Leah Franklin had 11 saves.

Baseball

GOVERNOR MIFFLIN 6 RED LAND 5>> Governor Mifflin dugout of a four-run deficit and outlasted Red Land to take a 6-5 nine-inning win in the District 3-AAAA quarterfin­als on May 26.

After falling behind 5-1 after two innings, the Mustangs grabbed one run in the sixth and three runs in the bottom of the seventh to send the contest into extra innings. Ajay Sczepkowsk­i hit a game-winning single in the bottom of the ninth to advance the Mustangs to the District 3-AAAA semifinals.

Joe Adametz and Noah Angstadt pitched 7.1 innings shutout innings out of the bullpen for the Mustangs.

GOVERNOR MIFFLIN 6 CEDAR CLIFF 0>> Governor Mifflin road the arm of pitcher Noah Weber to a 6-0 victory against Cedar Cliff in the District 3-AAAA semifinals on May 31.

Weber allowed three hits in the complete game shutout as the Mustangs advanced to the district championsh­ip. Earl Kochel and Hunter Reeser drove in five of the team’s six runs.
