Exeter ups win streak to 6, leads West

- Staff reports

The Orioles were limited to five hits while the Bulldogs banged out 15 to roll to victory in Berks County League play.

Victor Gonzalez and Matt Dekker (two RBI) each had two of Boone’s hits, the other provided by Steve Williams. Starting pitcher Jordan Goodrich took the loss for the O’s, touched for 11 of Norchester’s hits and its first nine runs.

Sean Bologa threw a two-hitter, and the Orioles did enough scoring early to come away with the Berks County League win.

Bologa had 10 strikeouts to his credit in the complete-game outing. Boone’s runs were driven in by Brett Goodrich (2-for-3), Steve Williams, Chase Lacey and Brady Hayes in the second and third innings.

Shaun O’Reilly pitched a sixhit, one-walk complete game to lead Exeter’s Berks County League victory over the Bulldogs.

Alex Barlow went 3-for-3 with an RBI and one run scored. Andy Fisher (2-for- 3) scored both Norchester runs on Joe Zgleszewski RBIs.

Scoring all its runs early, Shillington outpaced Twin Valley to win their Berks County League matchup.

Hunter Reeser drove in two of Shillington’s runs, others plated by Isaac Ruoss (2-for-2) and Justin Delvecchio (2-for4). Joseph Adametz chipped in with another 2- for-2 hitting performance in support of Tristan Kochel’s completegame pitching.

Though the Orioles held a 9-6 edge in hitting, Exeter was able to double Boone up for the Berks County League win.

Chris Smith drove in two of Exeter’s runs, and Eric Nein had another RBI to back winning pitcher Dylan Richards’ com- plete-game effort. Sean Bologa (2-for- 4, double) had a three-RBI outing for the O’s. Exeter rallied for three runs with two out in the bottom of the seventh to defeat the Bears.

Jon Lach’s two-out infield single ignited the rally. Chris Smith reached on a strikeout/wild pitch and Jake Fry’s single loaded the bases. After Mike Xanthopoulos walked Nate Serba to force across the first run of the inning, Trevor Waldman relieved and walked Eric Nein and Alex Barlow to force home the tying and winning runs.

Exeter caught fire in the late innings to win its sixth straight game and strength its place atop the West Division standings.

Exeter did most of its damage in a five-run sixth inning to erase a 3- 0 Shillington lead. Chris Smith had two hits and two RBI while Clayton Douglas, Antonio Lopez and Jake Fry also turned in two-hit games as part of Exeter’s 11-hit attack.

Leading Shillington’s 13-hit assault was Phillip Henery nad Noah Weber, who were each 3-for- 4 with an RBI, and Hunter Reeser and Zachary Wyrick (two hits apiece).

Shaun O’Reilly got the mound win, giving up four runs on 13 hits with eight strikeouts in nine innings.
