Extreme sports heat up Stonecliffe Action Park with Triple B Competition
The extreme sports event for Berks County Parks and Recreation, the Triple B Competition, is a perfect showcase for bikes, blades, boards and scooters. The Berks County Parks and Recreation Department is thrilled to once again host this popular event where extreme sports participants can show off their skills and tricks on the ramps and rails at Stonecliffe Action Park.
This year’s competition will be held Saturday and Sunday, July 30 and 31, starting at 4 p.m. Skateboarders and In-Line Skaters will compete on Saturday, and the BMX Bike and Extreme Scooter competitions will be held on Sunday. A Best Trick competition for each sport will be offered both days. Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced categories are all offered to participants, making the competition open to all ages and abilities.
Stonecliffe Action Park sports a new piece of equipment, a new Pyramid, which the department replaced this spring from the original equipment installed in 2013. The Pyramid allows riders to change direction of their f low while doing a trick and generating speed, and the rail on the top deck creates an additional challenging obstacle.
Participants can preregister for the Triple B Competition with the Park department by Friday, July 29, for a nominal fee. Par- ticipants that register on the competition day will pay the full fee per division. The divisions are Skateboard, BMX Bike, Inline Skate, Extreme Scooters and Best Trick. There is a minimum of five participants per category in order to hold a competition. Otherwise, participants can do an exhibition without prizes. Call 610-3742944 ext. 2611 to register or pick up a competition form at Stonecliffe Action Park, from the county website www.countyofberks.com/parks or our Facebook page “Berks County Parks and Recreation.” These completed forms and the registration fee must be received by Friday, July 29 to the Berks Leisure Office at 1901 Tulpehocken Road, Wyomissing, PA 19610.
Extreme sports participants and observers can all enjoy the talent and fearlessness of those competing in the Triple B Competition on Saturday and Sunday, July 30 and 31 (rain date Aug. 6 and 7) at 4 p.m. Come out and sup- port these athletes and this unique event.
