Region 2 holds Futures showcase
Berks County League shines with 4-0 record
With an eye toward the future, the teams in Region 2 of American Legion Baseball in Pa. banded together to put their best underclassmen on display.
The Region 2 Futures Tournament was held last weekend, July 22-24, at Muhlenberg’s Gochnauer Field in Laureldale as a college recruiting showcase for returning players who will be 2017 and 2018 graduates.
The tournament was conducted in a round-robin format with teams comprised of players from each of the Berks, Schuylkill-Berks, Bux-Mont, Lehigh Valley and Norco leagues
The Berks County League team went undefeated in the event going 4-0 following Sunday night’s 13-3 win over Lehigh Valley. Rosters included: Berks League: Exeter’s Nick Klee, Jon Lach, Nate Serba; Shillington’s Noah Angstadt, Austin Baker, Isaac Ruoss; Conrad Weiser’s Connor Coldren; West Lawn’s Dalton Emerich, Ryan Murphy, Jaden Himmelreich; Norchester’s Andrew Fisher, Josh Fulmer, Brian Siket; Boyertown’s Grant Fronheiser, Cory Melchior, Michael Raineri; Twin Valley’s Zach Rice.
