PA State Police to host Citizens’ Police Academy at Reading station

- Pennsylvania State Police

The Pennsylvania State Police will be hosting a Citizens’ Police Academy (CPA) at the Pennsylvania State Police Reading station. The program will ex- pand citizens’ knowledge and understanding of the law and will explore police procedure from the perspective of the Pennsylvania State Police.

The Citizens’ Police Academy involves approxi- mately 20 hours of instruction taught in two-hour segments and is scheduled to begin Wednesday, Sept. 14 and end Wednesday, Nov. 16. Participants meet each Wednesday evening for 10 weeks from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Students must attend 75 percent or more of the scheduled classes in order to be eligible to graduate and receive a certificate.

The class size is limited to allow greater interaction between students and instructors. Citizens are selected from interested applicants, who must be 18 years of age or older to apply and be a resident of Pennsylvania. Applications can be picked up at the PA State Police Reading station located at 600 Kenhorst Boulevard, in Reading, or applicants can e-mail megrichard@pa.gov to request an electronic e-mail application. The deadline for application submission will be Wednesday, Aug. 31.

Any questions can be directed to Trooper Megan Richards at 610-378-4382.
