Group dissolves, distributes remaining assets
As its final act, Amity Manor Inc. is distributing its remaining $5,541 to Christian Concern Management and Development Co., manager of Amity Manor Apartments in Douglassville. Incorporated in 1988, Amity Manor Inc. obtained seed money from local churches and loans from the government to develop eight acres off Route 422 West in Douglassville into the 36-unit Amity Manor Apartments and the 24-unit Weidner Manor apartments. Both opened in the early 1990s with rental assistance for low-income elderly.
Af ter several unsuccessful attempts to establish additional elderly facilities at the site, the developer sold its remaining property at 1125 Ben Franklin Highway West (Route 422) to the owner of Sanctuary Counseling, which now provides its services in a new building
constructed at that site.
Recognizing that its original mission had been accomplished, the Board of Directors resolved to dissolve the corporation and distribute its remaining funds for use by the current owner and manager of Amity Manor Apartments.
