Woman robs bank branch

Police are looking for a female suspect after responding to a bank robbery on the morning of Tuesday, Aug. 16.

Police posted on their Facebook page Tuesday afternoon that they were called to M&T Bank, 4000 Perkiomen Ave., at 11:20 a.m. for a reported robbery. The bank robber gave the teller a note demanding money and threatenin­g violence but did not display a weapon, police said. The suspect was handed an undisclose­d amount of money and fled in a dark sedan, possibly driven by a male accomplice. The car was last seen going east on Perkiomen Avenue (Business Route 422) away from the bank.

Several other Berks County police department­s were called to the scene to assist.

Police are now asking for the public’s help in identifyin­g the woman.

Anyone with informatio­n on the robbery or identity of the suspect is asked to contact Exeter Police at 610-779-1490 in reference to case number 163453. Informatio­n and tips can also be given to Crime Alert Berks County via phone or text at 847411.
