Kapp and Parkinson were full of praise for the newlyminted QB.

“Me and Lawrence had a pretty good chemistry by the end of the season, but this year Evan knows everyone’s strengths and everyone’s weaknesses and that’s good to have,” Kapp said. “If he sees one person getting double-covered he knows where to go.”

“We have big hopes for Evan (Giannetti) and hope to make sure he maintains that position and stay healthy.”

New Guys Up Front

Boyertown’s offensive line will see a fresh set of faces with only Colin Black returning on the O-line after the departures of Mike Banks (Shippensburg), Quinn Hare, Dean Moyer and David Terry. Reece Stahl and Pat Ricci headline the new cast in the trenches.

“The line will be new, but with that being said, I’m excited about the guys that we have,” Parkinson said. “They are intelligent and picking up what we want them to do really quickly. I think they’re going to do a great job. If we can get the line where we need themto be, I think we’ll be fine.”

Eye in the Sky

According to BASHFootball.com, Boyertown received two grants this season, one worth $3,500 given by the NFL, the other worth $2,500 given by the Gabelsville Athletic Association.

The grant from the NFL was received in recognition of every player of coach who had ever played in the Super Bowl. Boyertown received the funds thanks to graduate James Develin winning Super Bowl 49 with the New England Patriots.

The funds were allocated to a new end zone camera that will be introduced Week 1, giving coaches and players valuable feedback in game film.

Hall of Fame

Richard Schell (Class of 1951), Harry Adrian (1968) and Brandon Mason (2001) will be inducted into the Boyertown Football Hall of Fame during a halftime ceremony Sept. 16 when the Bears host Academy Park.

Why Boyertown will Compete in 2016

The Bears limit costly penalties and red-zone turnovers and get everything out of Giannetti that they possibly can. Kapp, after shattering a Boyertown record with 645 receiving yards, and Berry are reliable targets. Give them the ball and let them make some magic. This Bears team wasn’t too far off last year ... remember the 3-0 advantage they held over Spring-Ford at the half last year?

What will keep Boyertown back in 2016?

Inexperience across the offensive and defensive line and the Power 2 of the Liberty. That 3-0 advantage over Spring-Ford just mentioned? That turned into a 39-6 loss. The game against Perkiomen Valley didn’t fare any better with the team getting dismantled, 51- 0. Parkinson said the Bears needed to put together a full four quarters of football. Against these two teams will be when they need to do it most.
