Merchants on Main Street Kutztown will host a Chocolate Crawl on Sept. 22, from 4 to 8:30 p.m. Chocolate surprises will await crawlers at each merchant and prizes will be awarded by lottery drawing at end of the quest.

“Each participating merchant is working on coming up with a creative, out of the ordinary chocolate treat related to their specific business for chocolate crawlers,” said Jim Springer, crawl organizer and owner of Dunkleberger’s Jewelers.

All participants will be given a card at the beginning to get stamped at each participating store. Each merchant will donate a prize to be awarded at end of the event, as well as supplying various chocolate delights for visitors to receive upon their arrival in the store. When at final destination, participants can put their cards into a bin to be cho- sen for a lottery prize.

The lottery drawing will take place at Young Ones record store, 26 S. Whiteoak St., starting at 8:30 p.m. Participants will be eligible for prizes when cards are stamped at all participating stores.

“We did this event for the first time last year with the support of the Kutztown Community Partnership,” said Springer, “and it went over so well that additional stores have asked to be involved, and there will be more businesses participating this time. Reppert’s Candy of Pleasantvill also will sponsor the event this year.”

Stores involved with the Chocolate Crawl are Dun- kelberger’s Jewelry, Jackie & Daughter Flowers, The Vault, Computer Wizards, the Kutztown Pub, Main St, Botique Hotel, Sorrelli Jewelry, Firefly Bookstore, Adamn’ Eve Boutique, Pop’s Malt Shoppe, and Young Ones. Others may be added as the event nears.

Participants can receive their stamp cards and start the crawl at any of these stores.
