Fun Days: This year, Weaver’s Orchard once again invites families to enjoy wholesome, kid-centered fun in the great outdoors every Saturday, September 17- October 29, 10a.m. to 5p.m., and Columbus Day Monday, 10a.m. to 4p.m. Activities for the whole family include hayrides, pick-your-own apples and pumpkins, live music, an apple cannon, a new mega slide, many children’s activities in the play area, pumpkin painting, face painting, obstacle courses and a barrel train. Delicious homemade foods include caramel apples, fresh-pressed apple cider, cider donuts and more. Saturday, October 29will be the grand finale, full of good, clean Halloween family fun. Kids and even babies can win prizes every hour for best costume, and the event will feature a candy cannon shooting candy every hour. Flight Risk Concert: Ridgewood Winery presents Flight Risk performing under the Backyard Concert tent on Sept. 24from 5to 8p.m. Ticket prices are adults 21+ for $10($15at the door and includes a glass of wine), nonalcoholic $5for ages 12+, and 12and under are free. Walk for the Animals: Humane Pennsylvania presents its 39th Annual Walk for the Animals & Walktoberfest on Saturday, Sept. 24at Jim Dietrich Park, 4899Stoudts Ferry Bridge Road in Reading, to help raise funds and awareness to improve the lives of animals and the people who love them! Registration begins at 10a.m. and the mile-long walk along the Schuylkill River kicks off one hour later. Walktoberfest starts immediately after the walk and features live music by Electric Farm, a multitude of vendors, doggie contests and activities for the whole family. Stitching Circle: The Mifflin Community Library’s Evening Stitching Circle meets every Monday from 6:30-8p.m., and the Afternoon Stitching Circle meets every Wednesday from 1-3p.m. New members are
always welcome and should bring their own materials. There are currently between 12-15 members who sew, knit and crochet. The group works on personal projects as well as service projects to benefit the community. Come join in loads of fun & stitching!
Writers group: Mifflin Writers Group continues to meet the 1st & 3rd Thursdays of the month from 6:30-8p.m. Mifflin Writers Group is composed of writers of all genres and levels of experience. Their purpose is to motivate, inspire, instruct, inform, share and critique each other in their writing efforts in a free flowing and relaxed atmosphere. Come get writing! 50th Reunion: The Daniel Boone Area School District Class of 1966is holding a 50Year Reunion, Friday and Saturday, Sept. 9and 10. Planning committee urges all classmates to attend.
