Police: Woman had $9,100 stolen in ID fraud
A 76-year- old township woman had more than $9,100 stolen from her in an identity fraud case, authorities said.
Between January 2012 and August 2016, someone accessed the victim’s personal information without permission and used it to open a Home Depot Home Project line of credit spending more than $9,100, according to state police from the Reading barracks.
The victim was made aware of the fraudulent account in August after receiving a letter from creditors requesting immediate payment of overdue balances, police said.
The person responsible may be living in Pennsauken, N.J., and related to the victim, police said.
