Police nab serial bank robber
A man believed to be responsible for a string of bank robberies, including one last week in Berks County, has been charged, authorities confirmed Thursday.
Exeter Township Police say 34-year-old Nicholas Joseph Casaburri allegedly robbed the Customers Bank Sept. 17 at approximately 11:20 a.m. No one was hurt in the crime, but the suspect did display a handgun.
Casaburri, whose last known address was 288 Swan St. Providence, R.I., is suspected of committing a string of bank robberies in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, police said.
In their investigation, Exeter detectives coordinated with the Camden County New Jersey Prosecutor’s Office and several other local and federal law enforcement agencies, after they determined that Casaburri had allegedly robbed a bank in Gloucester Township, N.J. as well.
Casaburri was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service Wednesday afternoon in the Philadelphia area.
He faces robbery and related charges.
