Savvy Social Security workshop: will be held Wednesday, Sept. 28, at 2 p.m. and 6:30p.m. at the Township of Spring Fire Station at 2301Monroe Ave in West Lawn. The workshop will cover strategies for maximizing Social Security benefits, the ideal time to apply for Social Security, and ways to minimize taxes on Social Security benefits. Bereavemen­t Support Group: sudSSpirit Bereavemen­t Support Group will hold its monthly meeting at 6p.m. at the Exeter Community Library. The group is for those that are survivors of the sudden unexpected death of their spouse or significan­t other. No registrati­on is required and it is FREE. St. Benedict’s Bereavemen­t Support Group: is for those grieving the death of a loved one. Car Show: benefiting Humane Pennsylvan­ia will take place on Saturday, October 1(rain date October 2) from 11AM to 3PM at the Danielle Ruiz-Murphy Center & Humane Society of Berks County Dog Park, 503S. Center Road in Birdsboro. All humans and their pets are welcome to browse the variety of automobile­s on display, enter 50⁄50 drawings and have a chance to receive door prizes as part of the Car Show. All you can eat breakfast buffet: St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church, 1188 Ben Franklin Hwy. East, Douglassvi­lle, will hold an all you can eat breakfast buffet from 8to 11 a.m. The all-you-can-eat buffet will include eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage, potatoes,toast, coffee, tea, and orange juice. Cost is $8/adult, $4/children Ages 7- 11and kids under 6are free. Parking and entrance at rear of building.

Stitching Circle: The Mifflin Community Library’s Evening Stitching Circle meets every Monday from 6:30-8p.m., and the Afternoon Stitching Circle meets every Wednesday from 1-3 p.m. New members are always welcome and should bring their own materials. There are currently between 12-15members who sew, knit and crochet. The group works on personal projects as well as service projects to benefit the community. Come join in loads of fun & stitching! Writers group: Mifflin Writers Group continues to meet the 1st & 3rd Thursdays of the month from 6:30-8 p.m. Mifflin Writers Group is composed of writers of all genres and levels of experience. Their purpose is to motivate, inspire, instruct, inform, share and critique each other in their writing efforts in a free flowing and relaxed atmosphere. Come get writing! Most programs encourage pre-registrati­on and take place downstairs at the Mifflin Community Library unless otherwise noted.
