Concert: Maria Damore and Lars Potteiger celebrate musical legacy of Kurt Weill, Oct. 7at 7:30p.m. at the WCR Center for the Arts, 140 N. 5th St. in Reading. Weill is the composer of “Mack the Knife,” “Speak Low” and “September Song.” Tickets for sale.

Saturday, Oct. 8

All you can eat breakfast buffet: St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church, 1188Ben Franklin Hwy. East, Douglassvi­lle, will hold an all you can eat breakfast buffet from 8to 11a.m. The all-you-caneat buffet will include eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage, potatoes,toast, coffee, tea, and orange juice. Cost is $8/ adult, $4/children Ages 7- 11 and kids under 6are free. Parking and entrance at rear of building.

Hay Creek Apple Festival: at Historic Joanna Furnace off Route 10, three miles north of Morgantown. Oct. 8from 7a.m. to 5p.m. and Oct. 9from 7a.m. to 3p.m. Turn on Furnace Road and proceed to site entrance. Admission is free. Parking is on site with a parking donation. Garden Club: Pottstown Area Garden Club welcomes amateurs interested in all aspects of gardening. Meetings are held the first Friday of every month at St. James Lutheran Church, 1101E. High St., Pottstown at 11:30a.m. Contact 610-327-2235. Birdsboro Rotary: Birdsboro Rotary Club meets 6:30 p.m. every Thursday at the Reading Country Club, 5311 Perkiomen Ave, Reading. Pagoda Writers: The Pagoda Writers group gets together from 1to 3p.m. the first Saturday of every month on the second floor of the Pagoda, 98Duryea Dr., Reading. Stitching Circle: The Mifflin Community Library’s Evening Stitching Circle meets every Monday from 6:30-8p.m., and the Afternoon Stitching Circle meets every Wednesday from 1-3p.m. New members are always welcome and should bring their own materials. There are currently between 12-15 members who sew, knit and crochet. The group works on personal projects as well as service projects to benefit the community. Come join in loads of fun & stitching! Writers group: Mifflin Writers Group continues to meet the 1st & 3rd Thursdays of the month from 6:30-8p.m. Mifflin Writers Group is composed of writers of all genres and levels of experience. Their purpose is to motivate, inspire, instruct, inform, share and critique each other in their writing efforts in a free flowing and relaxed atmo- sphere. Come get writing! Most programs encourage pre-registrati­on and take place downstairs at the Mifflin Community Library unless otherwise noted.
