The 8th Annual Red Corner Benefit is set to take place next week to benefit a local 11-year-old battling cancer.

On Saturday, Oct. 15, the Red Corner Benefit will be hosting an all-day event to benefit Hannah Hivner of Shillington. Hanna was diagnosed with High-Risk Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on May 21, 2016. Her treatment is expected to last longer than two and a half years with additional aggressive medications.

The event’s purpose is to raise awarenessof childhood cancer and give additional support to families dealing with the emotional and financial struggle of cancer. The Red Corner Benefit is a non-profit group that collects sponsorships, gift certificates, raffle prizes, goods, services and monetary donations through volunteers. All proceeds raised during the benefit go directly to the family in need in order to alleviate expenses and hardships during the child’s care.

Saturday’s event will feature a variety of activities including a petting zoo, face painting, pumpkin painting, a photo booth, bull riding and more. Live music will also be performed by several bands throughout the day.

The price of a ticket is $30 and includes all food, beverages and entertainment. Children under 17 are free when accompanied by an adult.

Gates at 465 Red Corner Road, Douglassville, will open at 11 a.m. with events starting at noon. Children’s activities will run from noon to 5:30 p.m.
