Children’s Library saw more than 750 participants

-

Another Summer Reading Program has come and gone at The Exeter Community Library. Patrons and librarians alike are welcoming cooler weather, colorful foliage, and busy school years. Here is a brief look back at the 2016 Summer Reading Program:

Our Children’s Library had a total of 778 participants, ages 0-18, who turned in at least one reading ticket. Each ticket represented two hours of reading. With 8,018 tickets turned in, our endearing young patrons read at least 962,160 recorded minutes this summer! We held 75 programs for children, teens and their families with 1,500 children and teens happily participating in events such as Family Olympics, Harry Potter Kids Book Club special event, Book Bingo, Animal Olympics, and much, much more!

Of our more mature patrons, ages 18 and beyond, 454 individuals entered tickets over the summer. A total of 5,749 tickets were received. We held 33 programs such as Book Bingo, Zentangle classes, Hatha Yoga Classes, Coloring Nights and more were enjoyed. A total of 16 Summer Reading Program prizes were awarded as well as 28 raffle prizes at Book Bingo all made possible by generous do- nations. Many patrons will be happy to learn that some of our Adult Programs are returning this fall and winter due to popular demand over the summer.

It takes much planning, coordination, generosity and the effort of many helping hands to ensure that all of our programs continue to be a success year after year. The Ex- eter Community Library strengthens our community, and we are only able to achieve this with the community working right along with us. We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge all of the generous companies and individuals who supported the Exeter Community Library during the 2016 Summer Reading Program.
