Exeter grad Torrence on the mark to Ursinus

- By Bill Arsenault For Digital First Media

Aliki Torrence has been a standout defender for the Ursinus field hockey team in her four seasons with the team. But the 5-foot senior has added a new wrinkle to her game – scoring goals.

In her first 64 games with the Bears, the Exeter Township grad had just one goal. In the first 12 games this season, she has four goals and two assists for 10 points.

“Aliki has not only continued to be a standout defender who is tough to beat, but this season she has joined the attacking corner unit as our primary hitter,” coach Janelle Benner said. “She has a great ability to read the play and because of that, has been a dangerous threat on our attack.”

Ursinus is 10-3 overall and 6-1 in the Centennial Conference after a tough 1- 0 loss to No. 10-ranked College of New Jersey last Thursday. Prior to that, Torrence had an assist in a 3- 0 victory over Arcadia and a goal in a 6-2 triumph over Johns Hopkins on Oct. 8.
