Events planned to honor area veterans

Numerous events will be taking place throughout Chester and Montgomer y count i es in honor of Veterans Day on Nov. 11. Below is a list of events that are scheduled to honor veterans in the area.

• On Friday, Nov. 4, rival school districts Daniel Boone Area and Exeter Township with join together to honor veterans and local police. The evening’s events will begin at 4:30 p.m. with a convoy from Exeter High School to Daniel Boone High School. Upon their arrival at Daniel Boone, vehicles will be set up for community members to view from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Community activities will begin at 6 p.m. with the Exeter Eagle Marching band performing at 6:20 p. m. These events will take place during Daniel Boone’s last home game, starting at 7 p.m. Veterans wearing an item of clothing representi­ng the branch in which they served will receive free admission.

• Boyertown Area Multi- Service Inc., The Center at Spring Street, 200 W. Spring Street, is offering a special Veteran’s Day program to honor those who have served our country. All veterans or spouses of veterans who are interested in participat­ing should sign up by Nov. 9 by calling the Center at 610- 367-2313. Those 55 years of age or older wishing to also join the lunch should call the Center at least two days in advance to make a meal reservatio­n. The suggested meal donation is $2.

• Owen J. Roberts High School will be hosting the 11th Annual Veterans Day Ceremony and Luncheon on Nov. 11. Doors will open at 11 a.m. with a ceremony at 11:45 a.m. in the auditorium. Local veterans, active service personnel and National Guard personnel are invited and encourages to attend. The ceremony will feature the Owen J. Roberts High School Choir and Naval ROTC. A catered lunch will follow the ceremony in the high school large group instructio­n room. Guests should RSVP by Nov. 1 to David Schwenk by calling 610- 469- 5515 or email: dschwenk@ojrsd.com.

• State Sen. Bob Mensch will be hosting his annual Veterans Appreciati­on Breakfast on Nov. 12. Veterans can bring up to one guest and registrati­on is required for the event. Mensch’s Red Hill Office can be reached by calling 215-541-2388.

• Pottsgrove High School students along with the Key Club will be hosting a Veterans Day Breakfast on Nov. 11 from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. in the caf- eteria of the school, 1345 Kauffman Road. To make reser vations contact Jaime Rinehart by calling 610-326-5105 Ext. 6610.

• Valley Forge National Historic Park will be hosting a ceremony honoring veterans on Nov. 11. The day will include a commemorat­ion service, historical demonstrat­ions and reenactmen­ts, trolley tours and rangerled walks.

• Immaculata University will be hosting a Veterans Day Recognitio­n Breakfast on Friday, Nov. 11, beginning at 7:15 a.m. in the Great Hal l . Chester County Council, Boy Scouts of America will be hosting this special breakfast to honor and recognize America’s veterans. U. S. Army Capt. Jacob Drumhel ler of Douglassvi­lle will serve as the guest speaker at the event.
