Special Event: Silent Auction of Annie Harlin’s Hooked Rug (last of its kind) Oct. 29

The 67th Annual Juried Holiday Fine Arts & Crafts Festival and Sale by the largest Craft Guild in Pennsylvan­ia runs Saturday, Oct. 29 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Kutztown University in O’Pake Fieldhouse at the corner of Trexler Avenue and Baldy Street in Kutztown. Highlighti­ng this event will be a “Last of its Kind” Hooked Rug by Annie Harlin. She is a juried lifetime member of not only Reading-Berks Guild of Craftsmen but also the Pennsylvan­ia State Guild of Craftsmen as well. Harlin is a well-known artist in Pennsylvan­ia and because of her love for this area and her Guild, has created this last hooked rug for us for this event. This will be a silent auction on Saturday, Oct. 29 (9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) and will benefit The Reading-Berks Guild of Craftsmen and their ongoing educationa­l programs of the chapter. You will find an array of more than 100 juried fine artists and craftsmen producing beautiful and functional traditiona­l works of art consisting of wood turnings, hooked and penny rugs, paper cuttings, folk art and theorem, calligraph­y, basketry, tinsmithin­g, redware, block printing, quilting, felting, furniture.

There are many featured craftsmen also working in the contempora­ry style and you will find ceramics, glass beads, gold and silver jewelry, florals, wearable art, photograph­y and fine art. These artists and craftsmen are ever evolving and their newest creations will be at this show and sale. Also featured at this Festival will be a Student gallery and live music by “The Acoustic Road Show”.

An indoor dining café is available during all hours of the Festival. It is handicappe­d accessible. Hourly door prizes too. Admis- sion is $6.00 by donation. Children 12 and under are free. Come early, the first 50 through the door will receive a free gift.
