Unbeaten Exeter volleyball into 2nd round

Girls Volleyball

EXETER3, CEDARCREST­0>> The Eagles improved to 17-0 and moved into the second round of the District 3-AAAA playoffs with a 2510, 25-12, 25-14 sweep at Garden Spot.

For Exeter, Alexis Schwenk had 26 assists, Emily Hangen had 10 kills, six assists and four digs; Thressia Nixon had six kills; Sienna Yeager had six digs and five aces; Drew Kofke had nine kills.

WARWICK 3, DANIEL BOONE 0>> The Warriors swept the Blazers 25-6, 25-9, 25-20 in the first round of the District 3-AAAA playoffs on Oct. 29.

Boys soccer

OLEY VALLEY 3, ELCO 1 >> The Lynx landed themselves in the District 3-AA semifinals on Oct. 29 with a goal from Clark Williamson and two scores from Dillin Gehris.

Oley caught fire just before halftime with two goals in under four minutes. Williamson staked Oley an early lead on a Dominic Capriolo assist while Gehris struck from 20 yards just 17 sec- onds before the midpoint.

ELCO got on the board on a corner kick in the 46th minute but Gehris sealed it with his second goal, assisted by Josh Daniels, with 3:48 left.

The Lynx (16-5) got a rematch with top seed Tulpehocke­n (20-1) in the semifinals on Nov. 1. Oley is the only team to top Tulpe this season, a feat it accomplish­ed en route to winning the Berks championsh­ip.

TULPEHOCKE­N 6, MIDDLETOWN 0 >> Brian Garay and Alex Gradwell each scored two goals as the Trojans made quick work of Middle- town.

KUTZTOWN 4, LANCASTER COUNTRY DAY 3 OT >> The Cougars dramatical­ly advanced into the District 3 Class A championsh­ip game with an overtime win on Oct. 29, hat trick hero Beckham Sibiski netting the game-winner in the second overtime.

Sibiski and Ryan Woodland staked No. 2 seed Kutztown (154-1) to three first half goals but No. 3 Lancaster Country Day rallied with two second-half scores to force OT.

Jake Aston chipped in with two

assists and Payton Stump added another.

Kutztown earns a meeting with top seed Camp Hill (19-2)– 11- 0 winners over Millersbur­g in its semifinal – in the final on Nov. 2 at Hersheypar­k Stadium (5:30 p.m.).

In quarterfin­al play, Kutztown eased by No. 7 Greenwood, 5-1. Sibiski netted four goals and Matthieu Reedy rounded out the scoring.

FLEETWOOD 2, SUSQUEHANN­OCK 1 >> The Tigers (16- 4-1) advanced to the District 3-AAA semifinals and clinched a place in the PIAA playoffs on Haydyn Zagorski’s goal with just over 10 minutes to play.

Marckens Grif fon’s header from a Jeff Heffner free kick gave the No. 7 Tigers the early lead before the No. 2 seeds leveled with 18:25 remaining.

Fleetwood made the quarterf inals through a 3- 0 win over No. 10 Bishop McDevitt.

The Tigers faced No. 3 Gettysburg in a semifinal on Nov. 1 at Cedar Crest High School.

Girls Soccer

CENTRAL DAUPHIN 2, GOV. MIFFLIN1>> The Mustangs’ season came to an end against undefeated Cen-- tral Dauphin in the District 3-AAAA quarterfin­als on Oct. 29.

Kierstin Spatz scored on a pass from Jennifer Martin for Mifflin’s goal, but it wasn’t enough to offset the scoring of Chloe Adler and Alice Onyango for No. 2 Central Dauphin.

Gov. Mifflin concludes its season with a 15-8 record.

It won its first-round game 9- 0 over Red Lion on Oct. 25 where Martin and Spatz each hit for three goals. Jessica Rogers, Hannah Teson and Jenna Gruber rounded out the scoring.

FLEETWOOD 6, HERSHEY 1 >> Fleetwood continued its tear this season by easing into the District 3-AAA semifinals by hanging five goals in under 12 minutes of the first half.

The undefeated Tigers (22- 0) got goals from Sydney Lobb, Alexis Schoener, Sarah Crissman, Rebekah Earnest, Faith Herndon and Emily LeVan.

No. 1 Fleetwood defeated Palmyra 4-1 in the first round.

The Tigers met No. 4 Manheim Central in the semifinals on Oct. 31.

PEQUEA VALLEY 1, KUTZTOWN 0 >> The No. 10 seed Cougars fell in the first round of the District 3-AA playoffs, 1- 0 to No. 7 Pequea Valley.

Kutztown capped its season with a 10-8-2 re--- cord.

Field hockey

TWIN VALLEY 3, LAMPETER-STRASBURG0>> The Raiders’ second straight district shutout sent them into the District 3-AA semifinals.

Twin Valley was to take on No. 7 East Pennsboro in the semifinal on Nov. 2 at Penn Manor.

Riley Knapp, Ashlynn Lennon and Erica Wolfgang scored in the win over L- S while Mikenna Allen, Hannah Menge and Abby Romig were credited with assists.

In its 8- 0 first-round win over Greencastl­e-Antrim, Wolfgang scored four for TV.

WARWICK 4, EXETER 2 >> The Eagles’ Peyton Halsey gave her team an early lead but the Warriors took command of the District 3-AAA first round game.

Exeter concluded its season 10-8-1.

OLEY VALLEY 7, TULPEHOCKE­N 0 >> The Lynx continued to light up the competitio­n to start their run in the District 3-A playoffs.

Madison Kline (2 goals, 3 assists), Sophia Gladieux (2G, 2A) and Samantha Buzalewski (2G) starred for Oley, which is 21- 0 and coming off winning the Berks championsh­ip.

Oley was to face Annville- Cleona in the semifinals on Nov. 2.
