Evening to honor veterans, military, police
Rival Daniel Boone, Exeter school districts partner for special event
In commemoration of Veterans Day, rival school districts Daniel Boone and Exeter Township will join forces to honor their communities’ veterans, military (active, reserve, and guard), and local police forces in recognition of these organizations’ commitment to and dedication to protecting and serving the local community, the state of Pennsylvania, and the nation as a whole.
The celebration will take place on Friday, Nov. 4. The evening will begin at 4:30 p.m. with a convoy from the Exeter High School to the Daniel Boone High School. This convoy will consist of PA Army National Guard vehicles, US Army vehicles, and local police vehicles which will be escorted by local American Legion Post’s Motorcycle Rider’s Clubs honoring these military and police personnel. Upon their arrival at Daniel Boone, these vehicles will be set up for commu- nity members to view offering an opportunity to interact with military and police professionals.
Starting at 6 p.m., community activities will transfer to the stadium beginning with Daniel Boone’s Senior Recognition Night. At 6:20 p.m. the Exeter Eagle Marching Band will dazzle the crowd with their halftime show setting a high musical standard for the evening. Following the Eagles’ performance, the Daniel Boone and Exeter Choirs will join voices with the performance of the National Anthem.
As a further demonstration of cross community unity, the two bands will combine for the halftime show providing their rendition of America the Beautiful and the Armed Forces Medley.
The halftime show will tentatively include Color Guards from neighboring school districts’ Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) Units, the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, local Boy and Girl Scout Troops, and local police departments. The evening will round out with the Marching Blazers capping off the musical entertainment by performing their halftime show immediately following the game.
This event is cosponsored by the Daniel Boone JROTC, the Daniel Boone and Exeter Athletic Departments, the Daniel Boone Sports Boosters, the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Keystone Villa.
The event will be held during Daniel Boone’s last home game on Friday, Nov. 4. Pregame community events will start at 5 p.m. Senior Night activities will begin at 6:25 PM, and the game will start at 7 p.m. Veterans wearing an item of clothing representing the branch in which they served, military personnel in uniform, and police in uniform will receive free admission to this game.
