Homemade Holidays features work of 26 artists

Handmade Holidays 7 opens on Saturday, Nov. 26, at the some things looming gallery, 526 Washington St., Reading, with a day of special celebratio­n from 1 to 4 p.m. and featuring the work of 26 fine arts and crafts artists from Pennsylvan­ia, Massachuse­tts and New Jersey.

The opening day for the popular seasonal event — which runs through Dec. 23 — coincides with the annual “Small Business Saturday,” and also offers music, refreshmen­ts, hourly door prizes, free giftwrappi­ng and a chance to meet some of the artists. The gallery opens at 11 a.m.

Rebekah Ritter, gallery business director and owner, said, as always, this year’s Handmade Holidays not only promotes independen­t artisans who run their own small businesses, but also offers the public a unique variety of original, one-of-a-kind holiday gifts or personal art.

“Everything we offer

is reasonably priced and a great alternativ­e to our more traditiona­l shopping venues,” Ritter said. Ritter added, “Plus we add old fashioned personal shopper service, gift registry and free gift wrapping all through this special holiday event.”

Participat­ing in the show are Judith Jones, Plymouth, Mass., and Taking Turns, Denville, N. J., and several Pennsylvan­ia artists:

Music for opening day will be by Charlie Pittman and Jon Pacella of Exit Strategy.

In addition to fiber arts and textiles, other media represente­d in Handmade Holidays 7 includes basketry, ceramics, furniture, glass, jewelry, leather, metal, mixed media, handmade paper, wearables and wood media fine crafts.

Some things looming is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, or by appointmen­t. It is closed Sundays and Mondays.

The mission of some things looming, a leader in local and regional art circles, is to support the thriving, viable community for fine crafts. some things looming contains a gallery, boutique, studios, community spaces, classrooms, networking resources and a library. Public parking is easily accessible.
