1st Street Players set the holiday mood with ‘White Christmas — the Musical’

There’s still time to catch a performanc­e of Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas — The Musical” by the 1st Street Players of Birdsboro. Upcoming show times are Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 10 and 11 at 2 p.m.

Based on the beloved, timeless film, this heartwarmi­ng musical adaptation features 17 Irving Berlin songs and a book by David Ives and Paul Blake. Veterans Bob Wallace and Phil Davis have a successful song-and-dance act after World War II. With ro- mance in mind, the two follow a duo of beautiful singing sisters en route to their Christmas show at a Vermont lodge, which just happens to be owned by Bob and Phil’s former army commander. The dazzling score features well known standards including “Blue Skies,” “I Love a Piano,” “How Deep is the Ocean” and the perennial favorite, “White Christmas.”

The show features a cast/ crew of 20 players from the surroundin­g communitie­s. The crew represents children and adults.

The main cast includes Andrew Angstadt as Bob Wallace, Tyler Macready as Phil Davis, Paige Yorgey as Betty Haynes, Nicole Angstadt as Judy Haynes, Todd Heckman as General Henry Waverly, Noelle Yorgey as Martha Watson, and Evey Fetter as Susan Waverly.
