PIAA runner-up Gov. Mifflin wins Hempfield Tournament

GOV. MIFFLIN>> The Mustangs were the champions of the Hempfield Tip-Off Tournament with wins over Lower Dauphin (47-40) and Dallastown (52-42).

Jennifer Martin scored a gamehigh 15 points in the final for the Mustangs while Ta’Shonna Wright-Gaskins chipped in 10.

GM gained breathing room in the final quarter after leading 3130 through three frames.

In their opener Friday, Mifflin dominated the first quarter (17-5) and didn’t look back. Martin had 19 and Hailey Payne scored 16.

FLEET WOOD TIP-OFF TOURNAMENT >> Fleetwood cruised to the title of its own tournament, handling Daniel Boone 54-19 in the final.

Gabrielle Downs and Lauren Lister scored 20 and 19, respective­ly, as the Tigers opened a 36-8 halftime lead against Boone, which was led by Kaylie Walker’s six points.

The All-Tournament team included MVP Lister, Downs, Fleetwood’s Alexis Schoener and Boone’s Julia Bookwalter.

On Friday, Fleetwood nailed Northern Lehigh’s 58-18. The Tigers, which led 43-9 entering the fourth quarter, got 16 from Downs.

Boone beat Manheim Central 53- 42 Friday, getting 12 points from Skyler Emory and nine apiece from Sydney Hayes and Emily Scott.

EXETER>> The Eagles were turned back by Central Dauphin, 61-34, in the final of the Exeter Tip-Off Tournament.

Jamie Brann led CD with 15 while Sammi Snyder topped Exeter with 12 and was named to the all-tournament team.

On Friday, the Eagles downed Garden Spot 48-37, dominating the fourth quarter 16-2.

Chelsea Rousseau led Exeter with 15.

HAMBURG TIP-OFF TOURNAMENT >> The Hawks opened the season with a 45-31 win over Brandywine Heights before falling to Annville-Cleona, 47-36, in the final. Julie Harbonic led Hamburg with 13 points in the title game.

On Friday, Erica Lutz scored 21 and had 15 rebounds for the Hawks, which took control in the second quarter to lead the Bullets 27-14 at the half. BH was led by Hannah Fenstermac­her’s 19 points, including five 3-pointers.

TULPEHOCKE­N TIP- OFF TOURNAMENT >> The Trojans reached the final of their tip-off tournament by routing Upper Perkiomen before falling to Pequea Valley, 70-28, Saturday.

Alivia Klopp, all-tournament team selection, led Tulpy with seven points in the loss. Against Upper Perk, Cassondra Mellen had a game-high 10 points.

Also at Tulpehocke­n, Schuylkill Valley went 1-1, falling 68-28 to Pequea Valley on Friday before downing Upper Perkiomen 45-26.

TWINVALLEY>> The Raiders won the title at the Twin Valley Tip- Off Tournament with wins over Pottstown (46-22) and Solanco (55-35).

Julie Wallace scored 19 in the final for TV and was named tournament MVP. Peyton McDaniel chipped in 11.

KUTZTOWN>> The Cougars went 0-2 at the Upper Dauphin Tip-Off Tournament. Gretta Bankes scored 16 for Kutztown in their 4433 Saturday defeat to the
