Dump truck, vehicle collide

- Digital First Media

AMITY >> Police say video footage from a dump truck’s dash camera has assisted them in an investigation into an accident on Wednesday.

According to Amity Police, officers were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash early Wednesday morning on Route 422 westbound at Old Airport Road.

Upon investigation, police said they found that the driver of a Toyota Avalon, identified as Amy Hafer of Douglassville, had entered the intersection of Route 422 and Old Airport Road on a red light and struck a dump truck driven by Isaac Jamison of Warrington.

Police said all three witnesses that they spoke to confirmed that northbound and southbound traffic on Old Airport Road had a red traffic signal and that the vehicle had pulled forward while opposing traffic had a green light.

Police were also able to review dash camera footage from the dump truck, which showed the Toyota Avalon pulling out into the intersection against a red signal and the dump truck swerving to avoid a collision, police said.

Jamison was unable to avoid the collision completely and the truck was hit on the front right side. The Avalon sustained disabling damage to the front end and was towed from the scene.

Police said Jamison was uninjured in the crash and that Hafer was taken to Reading Hospital for treatment.
