Tri-county homeschool theater group presents ‘Meet Me in St. Louis’ March 2-4

-

The Aleithia Players, a homeschool group with students from throughout Chester, Berks and Lancaster counties, will present Sally Benson’s “Meet Me in St. Louis” at Forks of the Brandywine Presbyterian Church located at 1648 Horseshoe Pike (Route 322), Glenmoore. The group annually presents a show the first weekend in March. In past years, high school students from Aleithia have performed “Pride and Prejudice”, “You Can’t Take It With You”, “Cheaper by the Dozen”, and “An Ideal Husband,”, among others.

“Meet Me in St. Louis” by Christopher Sergel is a story that deals with difficult circumstances, flat out disasters gone worse, and true love--all conveyed in a hilariously comedic fashion. The story begins shortly before the St. Louis World’s Fair, and everyone is excited, especially the Smiths! That is, until Mr. Smith reveals that he is being given a higherpaying job in New York. They will have to leave their home, including all their friends and loved ones, and miss out on the fair! Out of desperation, the four girls, Rose, Esther, Agnes, and Tootie, take action to try to make their father stay in St. Louis. What starts as a plan soon becomes a series of mishaps that threaten not only their hopes of staying in St. Louis but also Mr. Smith’s career and Rose’s love life!
