Exeter boys, Gov. Mifflin girls fall in district playoffs

EXETER >> The Exeter boys basketball team’s stay in the District 3 5A playoffs was brief when the No. 16 seed fell to top-seed Northeastern, 86-38, followed by a consolation loss to Shippensburg, 57-50, on Feb. 23.
The Eagles were led this season by Devon Jackson (16.8 ppg), who scored 13 against Shippensburg, as did Riley Dobraniecki while Joe Fylypowcyz added 12.
Exeter concluded the year 12-14.
Girls basketball
BERKS CATHOLIC >> Northern Lebanon rallied from 11 down in the second half to upend Berks Catholic, 4138, in the District 3 Class 4A playoffs last week.
The Berks champions got 28 of its 38 points from Dejah Terrell. Top seed NL got 20 points from Megan Brandt.
Berks Catholic (14-12), the No. 8 seed, faced Eastern York in a playback for one of the district’s six berths in the PIAA playoffs on Feb. 28.=
GOV. MIFFLIN >> Julia Sutton had 14 points to lead the No. 11 Dallastown (13-11) past No. 6 Gov. Mifflin (16-8) in the first round of the District 3 6A playoffs..
Kyra Hartman scored a game-high 19 points for Gov. Mifflin. Hailey Payne had nine of her 11 in the second half. Kayla DelVecchio grabbed 13 rebounds.
The Mustangs’ season ended with a 16-8 record after losing top scorers Jennifer Martin and Ta’Shonna Wright- Gaskins to injury late in the year.
TWIN VALLEY >> The No. 6 Raiders (20-5) reached the semifinals of the District 3 5A playoffs with a pair of wins last week, 50-46 over Palmyra and 54- 46 over New Oxford.
Against No. 3 Oxford, TV had four in double figures: Peyton McDaniel with 19, Taylor Knorr 13, Julie Wallace 11 and Ashlynn Lennon 10.
