Water polo coach positions receive support. Page A2

With the support of the district’s water polo team, Rob Scoboria approached the Exeter Township School Board on Tuesday, Feb. 21, to ask that the coaches be placed at a Category 5 level per collective bargaining agreement guidelines.

“The program started two years ago. We’ve had a tremendous amount of growth. We’re up to 33 athletes at the high school level,” said Scoboria. “The coach is an integral part helping a program move forward.”

The team recently completed its first season as a full member of the Pennsylvania Water Polo League Central Conference. Sco- boria acknowledged the board’s backing to the sport. “We are appreciative of the support the board and district provided for us last season,” he said.

The new positions included one boy’s coach and one girl’s coach for the water polo teams. In addition to the water polo positions, included a co-curricular positions for Mini-Thon and the forensics club.

The motion was approved by all members, less Russell Diesinger, who was not present.

In other business functions, the board approved a resolution to celebrate the life and honoring the memory of Don Thomas, who was a key contributor to the Exeter School District. He was former teacher, coach and athletic director.

“Don was a unique individual. In fact, when I was away at war, I wrote to my parents, I wrote to my wife, and I wrote to Don Thomas,” said Robert Quinter, school board member.

The board also accepted the resignation of Jeffrey A. MacFarland, senior high school assistant principal. His resignation is effective April 10, 2017.

“I would like to personally thank Jeff MacFarland for all the energy he’s put into the high school in the past years,” said Jim Brady, school board member.

Quinter also added “You will be missed.”

The next meeting will be held Tuesday, March 21, at 7 p.m. in the Administrative Building.
