Spring Fine Arts and Crafts Festival hosted at KU

Over 80 juried craftsmen and fine artists display art

The 15th Annual Juried Spring Fine Arts and Crafts Festival and Sale will be held by the Reading-Berks Guild of Craftsmen, one of the largest craft guilds in Pennsylvan­ia, on Saturday, April 1 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, April 2, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Kutztown University’s O’Pake Fieldhouse at the corner of Trexler Avenue and Baldy Street in Kutztown.

More than 80 juried craftsmen and fine artists ( juried members of Reading-Berks Guild and/ or Pennsylvan­ia Guild and invited artists) will be displaying their creations in store-front booths. For sale will be ceramics from traditiona­l redware to modern decorative pottery; a wide variety of jewelry including glass beads, wire wrapping, gold and silver jewelry; wood turnings; hooked and penny rugs; calligraph­y; basketry; art quilting; wearable art; photograph­y; fine art; paper art such as paper cuttings and paper flowers; folk art: theorems, tinsmithin­g, and block printing; furniture and the list goes on and on.

A student gallery, featuring art students from the area colleges, live music by “The Acoustic Road Show”; a food café; hourly door prizes and a “special something” for the first 50 patrons each day round out this very special event.

The festival is presented in partnershi­p with The Pennsylvan­ia Cultural Heritage Center and Kutztown University. There is parking and is handicappe­d accessible. Admission is $6 by donation. Children 12 and under are free. Proceeds benefit the educationa­l programs of the Reading-Berks Guild of Craftsmen.
