Berks truck driver dies af­ter ve­hi­cle over­turns

LOWER PROV­I­DENCE >> One man is dead af­ter a trac­tor­trailer over­turned in the 500 block of South Park Av­enue early Thurs­day morn­ing.

Emer­gency crews were dis­patched to the scene at ap­prox­i­mately 2:51 a.m. for a sin­gle-ve­hi­cle crash, ac­cord­ing to a press re­lease is­sued by the Lower Prov­i­dence Po­lice De­part­ment.

Jeremy Mar­quette, 44, of Leesport, Berks County, the driver and sole oc­cu­pant, was found dead in­side the ve­hi­cle, the re­lease said.

The trac­tor-trailer was car­ry­ing a full load of milk and spilled ap­prox­i­mately 4,000 gal­lons into a neigh­bor­ing yard and drainage area as a re­sult of dam­age from the crash, which is cur­rently un­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion by Lower Prov­i­dence po­lice.

Emer­gency re­sponse crews from the Penn­syl­va­nia De­part­ment of En­vi­ron­men­tal Pro­tec­tion were brought in to over­see cleanup the area.

Lower Prov­i­dence Town­ship Po­lice, the Lower Prov­i­dence, Col­legeville and Nor­ris­town fire com­pa­nies, Upper Prov­i­dence Town­ship Po­lice, Lower Prov­i­dence Am­bu­lance and Ply­mouth Am­bu­lance re­sponded to the scene.
