Berks truck driver dies after vehicle overturns

LOWER PROVIDENCE >> One man is dead after a tractortra­iler overturned in the 500 block of South Park Avenue early Thursday morning.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene at approximat­ely 2:51 a.m. for a single-vehicle crash, according to a press release issued by the Lower Providence Police Department.

Jeremy Marquette, 44, of Leesport, Berks County, the driver and sole occupant, was found dead inside the vehicle, the release said.

The tractor-trailer was carrying a full load of milk and spilled approximat­ely 4,000 gallons into a neighborin­g yard and drainage area as a result of damage from the crash, which is currently under investigat­ion by Lower Providence police.

Emergency response crews from the Pennsylvan­ia Department of Environmen­tal Protection were brought in to oversee cleanup the area.

Lower Providence Township Police, the Lower Providence, Collegevil­le and Norristown fire companies, Upper Providence Township Police, Lower Providence Ambulance and Plymouth Ambulance responded to the scene.
