District holds 2nd Wheelchair Brigade

-

Daniel Boone School District held its 2nd Wheelchair Brigade this year at the World War II Air Show on June 2.

Last year, 17 cadets from the JROTC at Daniel Boone High School, under the supervision of Shannon Helzer and James Angle, escorted 12 veterans. This year, Daniel Boone’s cadets were joined by the cadets from Owen J. Roberts, under the supervision of Gunnery Sgt. Andrew Worley. Together, there were 39 cadets escorting 31 veterans from the Coatesville VA, Keystone Villa, and Country Meadows.

Dane Miller, principal of Amity Elementary Center, said “The best moment among many was, immediately before the picture of the vets in their wheelchairs on the runway, the crowd had parted when our group was passing by and spontaneously applauded the veterans.”
